WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team was selected to finish second in the 2012-2013 ECAC Women's East Hockey League preseason poll as voted on by coaches from the league. Norwich was selected as the preseason favorite, earning all 144 possible points. The Cadets finished last season with a record of 27-3-1 and made it to the Division III National Championship for the third consecutive year.
Holy Cross was voted in the number two spot with 127 points. St. Anselm was selected third with 116 points and Manhattanville finished just behind the Hawks with 115 points. Salve Regina was voted fifth with 81 points, Castleton State sixth with 76 points, New England College seventh with 73 points, UMass Boston eighth with 66 points, and Southern Maine ninth with 57 points. Nichols (29 points), Plymouth State (28 points) and St. Michael's (24 points) rounded out the 10th, 11th, and 12th spots, respectively.
Holy Cross returns 25 letterwinners from a team that went 19-4-3 a year ago and welcomes three newcomers to the ice. The Crusaders will begin the season on Sunday, Oct. 28, at the Hart Center against Potsdam State at 1:00 p.m.
