Stacey Hochkins Named 2011-2012 Crusader Of The Year
WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior forward Stacey Hochkins (New Boston, Mich.), a member of the women's ice hockey team, has been selected as the 2011-2012 Crusader of the Year. The award was presented at the 57th annual Holy Cross Varsity Club dinner, held at the Hogan Campus Center on Satruday, May 5.
Hochkins earned second team All-America honors for the third consecutive year this season, in addition to earning first team All-ECAC East honors for the fourth year in a row. She was also named to the New England All-Star team for the third straight season, and received All-ECAC Open Tournament honors for the third time. During the 2011-2012 campaign, Hochkins led the team with a school-record 28 goals and 18 assists for 46 points.
Hochkins ended her collegiate career having set all-time Holy Cross records in all six major offensive categories, totaling 103 goals, 86 assists, 189 points, 18 game-winning goals, 22 power play goals and 15 shorthanded goals. A two-year team captain, she led the Crusaders to an overall record of 80-19-7 during her four years on the team.
Off the ice, Hochkins was a three-time selection to the ECAC East All-Academic team and a member of Holy Cross' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She also volunteered as a tutor at Quinsigamond Elementary School, and mentored high school students through the Girls Choice program.
