WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior forward Stacey Hochkins (New Boston, Mich.) has been named the ECAC East women's hockey Player of the Week as announced by the league. Hochkins posted a hat-trick in the first period of last weekend's 5-0 shutout against Plymouth State (Jan. 27) and added a shorthanded goal in a 5-2 victory over Southern Maine (Jan. 28). This is the second time this season and seventh time in her career Hochkins has been named ECAC East Player of the Week.
Hochkins netted two goals in the first 12 minutes of action against Plymouth State for her 18th and 19th goals of the season. She finished off her hat-trick at the 16:53 mark to help lift the Crusaders over the Panthers. Against Southern Maine, while fending off a second period power play, Hochkins stole the puck and recorded her 21st goal on the year in shorthanded, unassisted fashion at the 7:19 mark. The Crusaders are now 14-1-2 overall and 11-1-0 in the ECAC East.
The Crusaders return to action tonight, Jan. 31, when they host Colby at the Hart Center in the final non-conference game of the season at 6:00 p.m.
