Women’s Ice Hockey Defeated 4-1 At Manhattanville

RYE, N.Y.  – Despite taking an early lead, the Holy Cross women's ice hockey team was unable to keep its offense alive, falling at Manhattanville, 4-1, Saturday night. With the loss, Holy Cross falls to 15-9-0 (12-5-0 ECAC East), while Manhattanville improves to 15-6-2 (12-3-1 ECAC East).

Sophomore Alex Campione (Townsend, Mass.) gave the Crusaders an early lead when she took advantage of a power play at the 13:45 mark to net her seventh goal of the season. Manhattanville tied the game 45 seconds later when Jess Scioli found the back of the net and then took the lead at the 16:16 mark of the first period on a goal by Jackie Solomito. The second period was played to a stalemate with Holy Cross outshooting the Valiants, 8-3.

Manhattanville added two goals in the third period to earn a 4-1 win. Holy Cross senior goaltender Monique Gallant (Antigonish, Nova Scotia) allowed four goals and made 16 saves, while Manhattanville goalie Emy Cote allowed one goal and recorded 23 saves. Holy Cross outshot Manhattanville 24-20, while both teams netted one power play goal.

Holy Cross returns home to the Hart Center for the final game of the 2010-2011 regular season on Sunday, Feb. 20 at 2:00 p.m. Holy Cross will celebrate Senior Day prior to the start of the game.
