Holy Cross Women’s Ice Hockey Suffers 3-2 Loss At Colby

WATERVILLE, Maine – Colby's Tasha Rivard scored two goals and goaltender Brianne Wheeler stopped 33 shots to lead the Mules past the Holy Cross women's ice hockey team, 3-2, Friday night in Waterville, Maine.  With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 9-3 overall, while the Mules improve to 5-7.

Junior Nicola Garat (Princeton, N.J.) scored the first goal of the game at the 8:05 mark in the first period to give Holy Cross the early lead, but Colby fired back with a goal by Rivard with less than five minutes remaining. Rivard put the Mules ahead by a goal five minutes into the second period, before senior Jocelyn Kratchmer (Watrous, Saskatchewan) tied the game 2-2 at the 10:29 mark. Colby's Meghan Tedoldi scored what proved to be the game-winner less than three minutes later to put the Mules up 3-2. The third period remained scoreless as the Crusaders were unable to regain the lead, falling 3-2.

Holy Cross senior goaltender Monique Gallant (Antigonish, Nova Scotia) allowed three goals on 21 Colby shots, while Wheeler allowed two goals on 35 Holy Cross shots. Both teams went 0-3 on the power play, while the Crusaders outshot the Mules 35-21.

Holy Cross returns home to the Hart Center on Tuesday, Jan. 11 for a 6:00 p.m. game against Trinity.
