WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross junior Nicola Garat (Princeton, N.J.) has been named the ECAC East women's ice hockey Co-Player of the Week as announced by the league. This is Garat's first weekly award this year and first since she was named Rookie of the Week her freshman year.
Garat recorded her first career hat trick in Holy Cross' 4-2 win over Connecticut College on Dec. 7. Garat scored at the 5:54 mark in the first period to tie the game 1-1, she gave Holy Cross a 2-1 lead with a goal at the 4:11 mark in the second period and secured the 4-2 win with a goal at 10:48 in the third period. In 11 games this season, Garat has recorded 10 goals and three assists for 13 points.
The Crusaders enter winter break with a 9-2-0 overall record and are tied for the league lead with a 6-1-0 ECAC East record. Holy Cross will resume action on Jan. 7 when it travels to Colby for a 7:00 p.m. game.
