Holy Cross Women’s Ice Hockey Shuts Out Southern Maine, 1-0

GORHAM, Maine – Just 12 seconds into overtime, sophomore Caroline English (Dorchester, Mass.) scored the only goal of the game to give the Holy Cross women's ice hockey team a 1-0 victory over Southern Maine. With the win, Holy Cross improves to 8-2-0 (6-1-0 ECAC), while the Huskies fall to 1-6-1 overall (1-5-1 ECAC).

After a scoreless three periods of regulation, Holy Cross needed just 12 seconds of overtime to earn its eighth win of the season. English scored her fifth goal of the season off assists by senior Emily Henry (Lumsden, Saskatchewan) and junior Stacey Hochkins (New Boston, Mich.).

Holy Cross senior goaltender Monique Gallant (Antigonish, Nova Scotia) picked up her fifth win and first shut out of the year. Gallant recorded 18 saves in just over 60 minutes of action. Southern Maine's Jordan Lee made 28 saves on 29 Holy Cross shots.

Holy Cross wraps up the 2010 portion of its schedule with a 7:00 p.m. game against Connecticut College on Tuesday, Dec. 7 at the Hart Center.
