WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior forward Stacey Hochkins (New Boston, Mich.) scored twice to lead the Holy Cross women's ice hockey team to a 5-1 victory over Nichols 5-1 at the Hart Center Saturday afternoon. With the win, Holy Cross improves to 5-2-0 (4-1-0 ECAC), while Nichols falls to 1-5-0 (0-5-0 ECAC).
Holy Cross' only goal of the first period came in the ninth minute when Hochkins skated the length of the ice and beat Nichols' Francesca Palazzo to score a power play goal. Hochkins wasted no time scoring her second goal of the day. Just 33 seconds in to the second period, a slap shot by Hochkins from just inside the blue line found its way past Palozzo for the second goal of the game.
Senior forward Jocelyn Kratchmer (Watrous, Saskatchewan) added to Holy Cross' lead with a goal just 18 seconds into the third period. Holy Cross then went ahead by a four goal advantage at the 3:02 mark when freshman forward Kylee Sullivan (Arlington, Mass.) netted her first career goal. Nichols' Krista-Jean Forand went top shelf to score the Bison's only goal of the game just past the six minute mark before junior forward Nicola Garat (Princeton, N.J.) scored the final goal of the game to give the Crusaders the 5-1 win.
