WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross sophomore forward Stacey Hochkins (New Boston, Mich.) has been named to the 2010 RBK Hockey College Division Women’s All-American second team east announced by RBK Hockey and the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA). The RBK Hockey All-American teams are sponsored by RBK Hockey and chosen by members of the AHCA. Due to the number of teams regionally, the coaches have established two east teams and one west team.
Hochkins is the first member of the Holy Cross women’s ice hockey team to earn All-American honors. This season she led the Crusaders and the ECAC East with 44 points. Hochkins was named the ECAC East Player of the year and selected as the Most Outstanding Player at the ECAC Open as she led the Crusaders to their second consecutive Open title. Hochkins finished the season with 26 goals, tying the Holy Cross single season mark set by Kolt Bloxson in the 2002-2003 season. Her 44 points ranked fifth on the Holy Cross single-season list, while her five game-winning goals ranked fifth and her six power play goals tied for seventh.
In her two seasons on the ice for the Crusaders, Hochkins has scored 97 career points, ranking her sixth all-time at Holy Cross. Her 51 career goals are tied for third and her 46 career assists are ninth. In her freshman campaign, Hochkins finished the season with a Holy Cross single-season record 53 points and 28 assists. Her 25 goals a year ago ranked second on the single-season record list.
Holy Cross (20-4-2, 15-2-2 ECAC) won the ECAC Open Tournament title on Sunday, Feb. 28 to conclude the 2009-2010 season. The Crusaders’ victory over St. Anselm in the championship game was its 20th win of the season as Holy Cross hit the 20 win mark for the second time in school history.
