Women's Ice Hockey Selected Second In ECAC Preseason Poll
WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team was selected to finish second in the 2009-2010 ECAC Women's East Hockey League preseason poll as voted on by coaches from the league. Manhattanville was selected as the preseason favorite with 168 total points and five first place votes.
Holy Cross was chosen second with 133 points and four first place votes, while Norwich was selected third with 130 points and three first place votes. St. Anselm was selected fourth and UMass-Boston fifth, while Southern Maine, Salve Regina, New England College, Castleton and St. Michael's round out the top ten. Nichols and Plymouth State were voted 11th and 12th respectively.
Last season's ECAC Women's East Coach of the Year, Peter Van Buskirk returns 15, including the 2009 ECAC Rookie of the Year sophomore Stacey Hochkins (New Boston, Mich.), and welcomes five to a squad that finished the 2008-2009 season with an overall record of 24-2-1 and a 17-2-1 ECAC record. The Crusaders will kick off the 2009-2010 season on Friday, Nov. 6 at UMass-Boston.
