Women’s Golf Places Second At Wellesley Tri-Match

WELLESLEY, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's golf team opened the 2013-2014 regular season with a second place finish at a tri-match with Wellesley and Merrimack at the Nehoiden Golf Course on Saturday afternoon. The Crusaders totaled 342 strokes (+54), while Merrimack won the event with 314 strokes (+26). Wellesley finished in third place with 358 strokes (+70).

Holy Cross was led by sophomore Marisa Cameron (Garden City, N.Y.), who finished in third place with a career-best score of 78 (+6). Junior captain Morgan Powers (Glastonbury, Conn.) placed in sixth with a plus-nine 81, while sophomore Lydia Deneen (Hubbardston, Mass.) shot a career-low of 89, good for 10th place.

Sophomore classmates Claire McMahon (Buffalo, N.Y.) and Erika Park (Berlin, Conn.) rounded out the scoring for Holy Cross with totals of 94 and 113, respectively.

The Crusaders return to action on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 14-15, when they will compete in the Dartmouth Invitational at the Hanover Country Club.
