Women’s Golf Names Morgan Powers As 2013-2014 Team Captain

WORCESTER, Mass. The Holy Cross women's golf program has named junior Morgan Powers (Glastonbury, Conn.) as the 2013-2014 team captain. This the second straight year she has been a captain. 

As a sophomore, Powers led the team with an average of 87.4 strokes per round. Powers was also named Crusader of the Week after leading her team to a first place finish at the Nazareth Invitational. She finished in first place as an individual over two rounds with a total of 164 strokes, making her the first player in the history of the program to win a medalist honors in a tournament.

As a freshman, she led the team with an 85.5 stokes average and was the top team finisher in six of the seven total events, earning three top-25 finishes. She recorded a season-low two-round score of 163 twice. Her lowest round of the season, a 77, came at the Mount Holyoke Invitational and was the lowest round by any member of the Holy Cross team.

She is also a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, and was named to the Big South Presidential Honor Roll as a freshman.
The Holy Cross women's golf team will return to action after the summer break. The fall schedule will be announced at a later date.
