HARTFORD, Conn. – Holy Cross women's golf sophomore Morgan Powers (Glastonbury, Conn.) finished in second place as an individual, as the Crusaders placed third at the Hartford Invitational held at the Par-72 Rockledge Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday, April 15-16. Holy Cross had a total score of 716 strokes (+140) as Monmouth claimed the tournament crown with a team score of 648 (+72). Hartford came in second place at 664 strokes (+88) as Monmouth golfer Kelsi Kavanagh claimed the tournament medalist.
Powers was the leader after the first day of the tournament as she tied her career-best with a round of 77 (+5). She concluded the tournament with a score of 81, which placed her in second at plus-14 (158). Holy Cross freshman Marisa Cameron (Garden City, N.Y.) tied for 13th place with a two-day total of 179 (+35) as senior Kelly Reagan (Mendota Heights, Minn.) finished in 18th with a score of 189 (+45).
Freshmen Lydia Deneen (Hubbardston, Mass.) and Claire McMahon (Buffalo, N.Y.) rounded out the scores for Holy Cross. Deneen shot a total score of 191 (+47), which placed her in 19th, as McMahon finished in 22nd place with a combined tally of 200 strokes (+56).
Holy Cross will return to action on Saturday and Sunday, April 20-21, as it will compete in the Patriot League Women's Golf Championship held at Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pa.
