Women's Golf Completes 2011-2012 Season

  • The Holy Cross women's golf team completed its 2011-2012 season with a seventh place finish at the Jack Leaman Championship. Twelve teams competed at the event from over five different states. The Crusaders posted a combined score of 704, 71 strokes behind first-place Amherst. The team competed in seven competitions total this past season, as the seventh place finish at the Jack Leaman was the team's top performance.
  • The Crusaders say goodbye to four seniors, Ellie Deluca (New Canaan, Conn.), Madison Horl (Garden City, N.Y.), Melissa Magill (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Lauren McCarthy (Beverly, Mass.). The senior class played in a total of 79.5 rounds over their four years as Deluca led the pack with 57.5 rounds. McCarthy followed with 13 career rounds, including nine this season. 
  • Deluca wrapped up a very consistent career at the Jack Leaman Championship. The senior was two strokes below 86 her season average of 87.9 and finished in the top 25 individually. Deluca played in a total of 57.5 rounds and finished with a career stokes average of 88.6. She tallied a career-low round of 78 in the Mount Holyoke Invitational this past fall.
  • Freshman Morgan Powers (Glastonbury, Conn.) emerged as the team's top player over the 2011-2012 season. The newcomer tied the team-high in rounds played (15) and led the squad in average strokes (85.5). She also paced the team in six of the seven events, earning three top-25 finishes. She led the squad in individual score in six events and recorded a season-low two-round score of 163 twice. Her lowest round of the season, a 77, came at the Mount Holyoke Invitational and was the lowest round by any member of the Holy Cross team.
