LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Holy Cross women's golf team placed ninth of nine teams with a total two-day score of 764 at the Hawk Invitational, held at the Eagle Ridge Golf Course. Freshman Morgan Powers (Glastonbury, Conn.) led the Crusaders in their first event of the spring, shooting a two-day score 163 and tied for 12th, her highest placing this season. Annika Karlsson of Fairleigh Dickinson won the individual title with a 149.
Senior Ellie Deluca (New Canaan, Conn.) followed Powers with a 173 and finished in 22nd place. Junior Kelly Reagan (Mendota Heights, Minn.) scored a two-round score of 210 while senior Melissa Magill (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Lauren McCarthy (Beverly, Mass.) rounded out the team's performances with respective scores of 219 and 225. Long Island-Brooklyn took home the team title with a combined score of 628 as tournament host Monmouth finished fourth.
The Crusaders return to action on April 9-11, competing in the 2012 Big South Championship. The event will be held at the Patriot Golf Course in Ninety Six, S.C.
