SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Senior Meghan Doherty (Westerly, R.I.) completed her last collegiate event with the Holy Cross women's golf team as the top individual performer as the squad notched a seventh place finish at the 2011 Jack Leaman Championship, held at the at Hickory Ridge Country Club and The Orchards Golf Club from Saturday through Sunday. The Crusaders finished the competition with a total of 712 strokes as Doherty tallied a ninth-place finish.
Doherty combined for 166 strokes, marking two rounds of 83. Junior Ellie Deluca (New Canaan, Conn.) followed with a 173 while senior Johanna Gavin (Hackettstown, N.J.) came in third on the team with a 181. Rounding out the scores for Holy Cross was a 192 from sophomore Kelly Reagan (Mendota Heights, Minn.) and a 198 by senior Kerrin O'Leary (Milton, Mass).
Methodist won the invitational with 651 strokes and had four players finish within the top 10 individually. Wellesley's Kimberly Eaton won the individual title with 158 strokes, including a round of 78 on Saturday.
With the result, the Holy Cross women's golf team has now completed its 2010-2011 slate. Doherty led the squad in every event this season as well.
