Women's Golf Wraps Up The Fall Season This Weekend

- The Holy Cross women's golf team will wrap up the fall portion of their schedule on Oct. 24-25 at the Sacred Heart Fall Classic. The event will be held at the Great River Golf Club in Milford, Conn.
- The team last competed at the Sacred Heart Classic in October of 2008. Four current members on the roster competed two seasons ago, as senior Meghan Doherty (Westerly, R.I.) led the Crusaders to an eighth place finish. She finished in a tie for sixth place with a two-round score of 162. Junior Ellie Deluca (New Canaan, Conn.) had the second best score for the Crusaders with a 182 and a 32nd place finish. Senior Megan McCarthy (Beverly, Mass.) placed 43rd with a 200, while senior Kerrin O'Leary (Milton, Mass.) shot a 202 for 44th place. Junior Lauren McCarthy (Beverly, Mass.) had a 203 for 45th place to round out the Holy Cross competition.
- Doherty looks to end the fall portion of her senior season on a high note. She currently leads the team with an 81.8 strokes average after playing in five rounds. Doherty also aims to lead her squad for the sixth consecutive tournament, dating back to last year's Jack Leaman Championship (April 17-18, 2010).
- As a team, Holy Cross has played in 5.5 rounds and is averaging a team total of 324.73 strokes per round. Doherty has recorded the team's lone top-10 finish, while the squad recorded its best outing of the fall season at the Mount Holyoke Invite, finishing at 14 over-par.
