NINETY SIX, S.C. – Sophomore Ellie Deluca (New Canaan, Conn.) finished with a three-round score of 247, as the Holy Cross women's golf team took eighth place at the 2010 Big South Conference Championship, held at the Patriot Golf Club in Ninety Six, S.C. Deluca shot an 83 on the third and final day of play to finish in 36th place as an individual. The Crusaders finished the competition with a total of 1,024 strokes as Charleston Southern claimed the team title with 881 strokes.
Junior Meghan Doherty (Westerly, R.I.) had a championship-low 81 in the final round to finish in a tie for 37th place overall with a three-day total of 249 strokes, while fellow junior Johanna Gavin (Hackettstown, N.J.) shot an 85 on Wednesday, placing 42nd overall with a three-round total of 258. Junior Kerrin O'Leary (Milton, Mass.) ended the tournament in 44th place overall (278 strokes), while freshman Kelly Reagan (Mendota Heights, Minn.) came in 45th (287 strokes). Charleston Southern's Olivia Huggins won the individual title with 215 strokes.
The Crusaders will return to action on Saturday and Sunday, April 17-18, competing at the Jack Leaman Invitational. On Saturday, the competition is in Amherst, Mass., while on Sunday it is in South Hadley, Mass.
