Holy Cross Women's Golf Takes Sixth At Mount Holyoke Invitational
Mass. - Junior co-captain Meghan Doherty
(Westerly, R.I.) shot a two-round score of 166 to lead the
Holy Cross women's golf team to a sixth-place finish Sunday at the
Mount Holyoke Invitational in South Hadley, Mass. The Crusaders
finished with 700 strokes overall. St. Lawrence won the competition
with a score of 643.
Doherty was in fourth place after a day-one score of 79, three strokes behind Kristin Berretta of St. Lawrence. Overall, Doherty finished 12 strokes behind individual winner Hayley Milbourn of Amherst after she shot an 87 in Sunday's round. She finished in 12th place. It is the 12th time in which Doherty has been the top Holy Cross performer in her career.
Sophomore Ellie Deluca (New Canaan, Conn.) finished tied for 27th with a 174 on rounds of 85 and 89. Junior Kerrin O'Leary (Milton, Mass.), who tied for 42nd with a 182, was next for the Crusaders, followed by freshman Kelly Reagan (Mendota Heights, Minn.) with a 183 (tied for 46th). Junior co-captain Johanna Gavin (Hackettstown, N.J.) finished tied for 50th with a 186.
The Crusaders wrapped up the meet in sixth place after moving up from seventh the day before. Holy Cross finished just three strokes behind the State University of New York at Cortland and nine ahead of New York University.
Holy Cross is next in action Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 17-18 in Wellesley, Mass. at the Ann Batchelder Invitational. The starting time for each round will be announced at a later date.
