Holy Cross Women's Golf Takes 18th At Dartmouth Invitational

HANOVER, N.H. - Junior co-captain Johanna Gavin (Hackettstown, N.J.) shot a two-round score of 166 to lead Holy Cross to an 18th-place finish at the Dartmouth Invitational this weekend at the Hanover Country Club in Hanover, N.H. Gavin was the top performer for the Crusaders, finishing tied for 46th. It is the first time during her career she has been the top finisher for Holy Cross.

Junior co-captain Meghan Doherty (Westerly, R.I.) finished with a 168 for the tournament and finished tied for 57th. Sophomore Ellie Deluca (New Canaan, Conn.) ended the competition tied for 71st after a two-day score of 171. Gavin shot a career-best 79 on Saturday, which put her four strokes behind the individual lead after the first round. Doherty was three strokes behind her teammate after an 82.

The Crusaders finished with 688 strokes overall. Towson won the competition with 625 strokes, two shots ahead of Boston College. Brown, Fairfield and Dartmouth rounded out the top five.

Holy Cross is next in action Saturday, Sept. 26 and Sunday, Sept. 27 when it travels to South Hadley, Mass. for the Mount Holyoke Invitational. Each round is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m.
