Worcester, Mass. - Senior co-captain Cat Kerman (Glens Falls, N.Y.) was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I All-Region First Team and junior forward Jenna Cook (Walpole, Mass.) was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I All-Region Second Team as announced by the NFHCA this afternoon.
This is Kerman's first regional award. The 2004 Patriot League Co-Defensive Player of the Year also earned a spot on the League's First Team for the first time in her career this season. A two-time Patriot League Second Team selection (2003, 2002), Kerman started all 18 games for the Crusaders this season, and was first on the team in tackles (56), and second on the team in interceptions (71). She also contributed offensively with two goals and three assists for seven points, good for fifth on the team. For her career, Kerman tallied 247 interceptions, and was the only Holy Cross senior who has started every game (75) throughout her four-year career.
Cook's selection was also the first of her career. A First Team All-Patriot League selection for the second consecutive season, the junior forward led the team in total points (33), and assists (9). She was also second on the team in goals (12), three of which were game-winners. Cook was ranked in the League Top 10 in eight different categories this season.
Holy Cross finished its regular season with an 11-7-0 overall record, and a 3-2 mark in the Patriot League. The third-seeded Crusaders were defeated by second-seeded Colgate in the first round of the Patriot League tournament.
