Kuhn Named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week

Worcester, Mass. - Junior goalie Sony Kuhn (Cincinnati, Ohio) has been named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for her performances from October 18-October 25th, in which the Holy Cross field hockey team went 2-0. This is Kuhn's second Player of the Week honor this season. She was also recognized the week ending October 4th.

Kuhn posted her seventh and eighth shutouts of the season over the weekend. On Saturday, October 23rd, Kuhn made 4 saves in a 3-0 league victory over Lafayette, and the next day, she had 6 stops in a 4-0 win over non-conference opponent Rhode Island. Kuhn has now posted three shutouts in the past three Holy Cross games, dating back to a 5-0 victory over Georgetown on October 17th.

Kuhn leads the League in both shutouts (8), and save percentage (.829). She also ranks second in goals against average, at a 1.31 clip. Through 16 games this season, Kuhn owns a 10-6 record, 3-2 in league play.

The Crusaders will host Brown University on Wednesday, October 27th at 5:00. They round out the regular season with a game at Dartmouth on Sunday, October 31. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
