Welch Named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week

Holy Cross sophomore Tara Welch (New Boston, NH) was named the Patriot League Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week for the first week (Aug. 31-Sept. 12) of the season, after leading the Crusaders to a 4-1 start. This is the first Patriot League award of Welch's career.

The sophomore forward tallied five goals and one assist in five-games this season to share team-high honors with Jenna Cook (4-3-11) at 11 total points. Her best outing was a two-goal effort in a 4-1 win over Providence College on Wednesday, September 8th.

Welch leads the team in goals (5), and shots on goal percentage (.769). She is tied for first in total points (11), and is second in both shots (13) and shots on goal (10). Welch is also tied for third in assists (1), and game-winning goals (1).

The Crusaders will host the University of Vermont on Sunday, September, 19. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m.
