Two Field Hockey Players Receive Patriot League Honors

WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior Kara Gonnerman (St. Louis, Mo.) has been named the Patriot League Field Hockey Rookie Player of the Week and sophomore Erin Singleton (Amesbury, Mass.) has been named the Patriot League Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week, for competition from September 24-30.

Gonnerman scored the game-winning goal versus Lafayette while Singleton went 1-1, saving both shots on goal during the Lafayette game on Saturday and stopped six-of-eight shots on goal during a 2-0 loss to Columbia on Sunday.

In Saturday's 1-0 victory over Lafayette, Gonnerman lifted Holy Cross to opening its league play with a win. Gonnerman now has three goals and one assist in her debut season, ranking her second on the team for points with seven.

Singleton notched her third season shutout and seventh career shutout. Singleton also reached another career milestone, receiving her seventh goalkeeper honors from the Patriot League.

The field hockey hosts a pair of games this weekend playing Colgate on Saturday, October 6 at 12:00 p.m. and Yale on Sunday, October 7 at 3:00 p.m.
