WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross junior midfielder Courtney Callahan (Acton, Mass.) has been named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week in field hockey, for competition from September 14-21. This is Callahan's first career Patriot League honor.
In the Crusaders' 3-1 victory on the road at Siena on Sunday afternoon, Callahan had back-to-back second half goals, including the game-winner. In the second half, at the 45:16 mark, the Crusaders took advantage of a penalty corner as Callahan snuck a shot around the Siena goalkeeper. Just 2:07 later, Callahan scored her second goal of the game grabbing a rebound off a save from Siena's goalkeeper, making the score 3-1. Against New Hampshire on Wednesday night, Callahan tallied an assist on Holy Cross' first goal of the game. Scoring all her points this week, Callahan is now ranked second on the team in points with five.
