Sept. 19, 2005
Worcester, Mass. - Holy Cross field hockey player Jenna Cook (Walpole, Mass.) was named the Patriot League Player of the Week, for games through Sept. 18, as announced by league officials this afternoon. This is Cook's first conference nod of the season.
A senior forward, Cook led Holy Cross to two wins last week after tallying three goals and two assists (eight points) in a three game span. Cook had a hand in all three Crusader goals in Holy Cross' 3-1 win over Rhode Island on Wednesday (one goal, two assists), and scored both Holy Cross goals in the Crusaders' 2-1 win over New Hampshire on Sunday. She recorded the game-winning goal at UNH and assisted on the game-winning goal against URI. Cook also registered two of HC's three shots on goal against undefeated Harvard on Friday. For the week, Cook recorded 11 shots, 10 of which were on goal.
The Massachusetts native has started in all seven Holy Cross games this season and leads the Patriot League in total points (20). She is also tied for first in the League in goals (seven), and is tied for second in the League in assists (six).
After its two wins last week, Holy Cross is currently 3-4 this season and has a chance to get back to the .500 mark on Wednesday when it hosts Fairfield University at 4:00 pm. Patriot League play for the Crusaders begins on Saturday, October 1, when they play host to Colgate.
