WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr., and head field hockey coach Alicia Hawk have announced the Crusaders' schedule for the 2008 season. Holy Cross is scheduled to play a total of 19 games this season, including 10 home contests at the Hart Turf Field.
The Crusaders will open the season with a pair of road games at Fairfield (Aug. 30) and Harvard (Sept. 5). Holy Cross will then play two straight home games with contests against Boston College (Sept. 7) and Providence (Sept. 10). The Crusaders then travel to Yale (Sept. 13), before returning home to face New Hampshire (Sept. 17). Following a road contest at Siena (Sept. 21), Holy Cross concludes the month of September by playing host to Quinnipiac (Sept. 26) and traveling to Dartmouth (Sept. 28).
The Crusaders begin the month of October with their Patriot League opener at American (Oct. 4). Holy Cross then plays three straight home games, against Stanford (Oct. 6), Lafayette (Oct. 11) and Columbia (Oct. 12). Next, the Crusaders return to the road with trips to Colgate (Oct. 18), Syracuse (Oct. 19) and Lehigh (Oct. 25). Holy Cross then concludes the regular season with another stretch of three consecutive home contests, against Brown (Oct. 29), Bucknell (Nov. 1) and Maine (Nov. 2).
The Patriot League Tournament is set for Nov. 8-9, on the campus of the regular season champion. The top four teams in the final regular season standings will take part in the tournament.
The 2008 Crusaders return six starters from last year's team that went 6-13 overall and 2-3 in the Patriot League.
