WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr. and head field hockey coach Meg Galligan have announced the Crusaders' schedule for the 2007 season. Holy Cross is scheduled to play a total of 19 games this season, including 10 contests at home at the Hart Turf Field.
The Crusaders will open the season at home with a game against Siena (Aug. 28). Holy Cross will then play two straight road games with contests at Boston College (Sept. 2) and Providence (Sept. 5). The Crusaders will play three consecutive games in Worcester with contests versus Ohio (Sept. 7), St. Francis (Sept. 9) and Harvard (Sept. 14). The Crusaders then play four of their next five games on the road with away matches at New Hampshire (Sept. 16) and Albany (Sept. 22), a home game with Cornell (Sept. 23), followed by the Patriot League opener at Lafayette (Sept. 29) and a game at Columbia (Sept. 30).
Holy Cross opens the month of October when its host league opponent Colgate (Oct. 6) and takes on Yale (Oct. 7). After a game at Quinnipiac (Oct. 10), the Crusaders play two straight Patriot League games with a home contest with Lehigh (Oct. 13) and an away game at Bucknell (Oct. 20). Holy Cross will then play Brown on the road (Oct. 24), followed by a home game against defending Patriot League champion American (Oct. 27) in the regular season league finale. The Crusaders conclude the regular season when they host Dartmouth (Oct. 28).
The Patriot League Tournament is set for Nov. 2-3, on the campus of the regular season champion. The top four teams in the final regular season standings will take part in the tournament. The winner of the tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The 2007 Crusaders return eight starters from last year's team that went 14-6 overall (4-1 Patriot League) and earned a spot in the Patriot League Tournament championship game.
