WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross field hockey team has announced seniors Carolyn Connelly (Greenland, N.H.), Jessie Cullen (Norwich, Vt.), Kristin Schulz (Fairfield, Conn.) and Erin Singleton (Amesbury, Mass.) as the 2008 team co-captains.
A forward and midfielder, Connelly has appeared in 31 games, making five starts in two seasons with the Crusaders. She has two goals and one assist for five points as well as tallied 44 interceptions and 37 tackles throughout her career.
A midfielder and back, Cullen has played in 26 games and made 19 starts. Last year, she scored her first collegiate goal and tallied 40 interceptions and 21 tackles on the season. During her freshman year, Cullen was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
A forward and midfielder, Schulz has seen action in 39 games throughout her career, starting in 14. She has recorded six goals and four assists for 16 points during her three years on the team, including one game-winner during her freshman year. Schulz is also a two-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
A goalkeeper, Singleton has appeared in 43 games, making 40 career starts. She holds a career record of 19-17 and is ranked tenth at Holy Cross in career shutouts with seven. She is a two-time Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year (2006, 2007) and has been named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week six times throughout her career. Singleton is also a two-time member of the Patriot League All-League first team and was named to the 2005 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
The 2008 Crusaders will return 14 players from last year's team and welcome five incoming freshmen.
