Four Players Earn National Recognition

Worcester, Mass. - Holy Cross had four field hockey players named to the 2005 NFHCA Division I National Academic Team as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association earlier this week. Holy Cross was among 77 Division I institutions across the country that were represented with players on the academic team.
Senior Sony Kuhn (Cincinnati, Ohio), junior Tara Welch (New Boston, N.H.), sophomore Lauren Coletta (Mendon, Mass.), and freshman Erin Singleton (Amesbury, Mass.) were all recognized for their academic achievements during the Fall season.
Kuhn has been named to the National Academic team all four years of her career, while both Welch and Coletta are two-time honorees.
Holy Cross also placed seven players on this year's Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, including Kuhn, Welch, Coletta and Singleton. Kuhn led the team with a 3.97 grade point average during the season.
Holy Cross finished the 2005 campaign with a 10-10 overall mark and a 3-2 record in Patriot League play. The Crusaders were defeated by seventh-ranked American, 4-2, in the championship game of the Patriot League tournament.
