Washington, D.C. - American University scored two goals in each half to defeat Holy Cross in a Patriot League matchup on Saturday morning at Georgetown's Keogh Field. The Crusaders have lost their last two games and dip to 7-6 (2-2), while the Eagles improve to 13-2 (4-0). The two teams played the first 32 minutes of the game in a scoreless tie until American freshman Maggie Hall got the hosts on the board with a goal during an Eagle penalty corner at the 32:01 mark. Less than two minutes later, junior Javiera Villagra gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead at the half when she gathered a rebound and beat Crusader goalkeeper Sony Kuhn with just over a minute before the break.
American would then get two second-half goals from sophomore Camila Infante in the 43rd and 47th minutes to close out the game, 4-0.
The Crusaders were outshot 19-4 on the day. Kuhn made 9 saves in 70 minutes of play while her Eagle counterpart Allison Fayfich made 1 save in the shutout effort.
Holy Cross stays in the D.C. area and will play Georgetown University on Sunday, October 17 in a 1:00 start.
