WAHSINGTON, D.C. - Junior Sara O'Coin (Worcester, Mass.) had two goals while junior Carolyn Connelly (Greenland, N.H.) and senior Tara Welch (New Boston, N.H.) each had one as Holy Cross defeated Georgetown 4-2 in non-conference action Sunday at Kehoe Field.
O'Coin put Holy Cross on the scoreboard early in the game and then again at 12:03 to create a 2-0 lead and total 12 goals this season. Georgetown scored one at 15:30, but Connelly scored another for the Crusaders before the first half was over to go ahead 3-1.
Welch scored her 16th goal of the season unassisted at 36:42 to increase the lead for Holy Cross. Georgetown scored one more before the end of the game, but it was not enough to come back as Holy Cross kept the lead and won the game, 4-2.
The Crusaders end their regular season at 13-5 overall and 4-1 in the league as Georgetown drops to 5-12 overall. Holy Cross continues into the Patriot League Tournament seeded second and will play third seed Lafayette at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at American.
