Field Hockey Downed by #1 Syracuse, 7-0

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Holy Cross field hockey team fell to No. 1 Syracuse, 7-0, in a non-conference contest on Sunday afternoon at J.S. Coyne Stadium. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 4-10 (0-3 Patriot League) while the Orange improve to 15-1 (3-1 Big East).
Syracuse was led by Shannon Taylor who scored four of seven goals with two in each half. Maggie Betford had one goal and two assists while Martina Loncarica had three assists for the Orange.
Holy Cross senior goalkeeper Erin Singleton (Amesbury, Mass.) had 12 saves on the day while Christina Puggi had one stop for Syracuse.
The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, October 25 at 1:00 p.m., as they travel to Lehigh for a Patriot League Contest.
