Box Score

Durham, N.H. - Senior forward Jenna Cook (Walpole, Mass.) scored a pair of first half goals to lead the Holy Cross field hockey team to a 2-1 non-conference win over the University of New Hampshire on Sunday afternoon at Memorial Field. Holy Cross ups its record to 3-4 on the season, while UNH falls to 3-6.

Cook gave the Crusaders a 1-0 lead at the 9:54 mark after she gathered a rebound and placed a shot inside the left post after a Holy Cross penalty corner. Junior Laura Cohen's initial shot from the top of the circle off of the penalty corner was stopped by UNH goalkeeper Margaux Shute when Cook made good on the rebound.

Cook then scored what would be the game-winning goal just 15:45 into the contest when she redirected Cohen's entry pass from inside the right post.

UNH trimmed the deficit to 2-1 late in the first half when Emily Colton made a centering pass from the right wing and Kaitlyn Skelley blasted a high shot from the top of the circle inside the right post at 30:59. But that was as close as the Wildcats would get.

Kuhn finished the game with three saves on the afternoon, while Shute came up with seven stops for the Wildcats. The Crusaders enjoyed a 16-9 shot advantage, despite being doubled up on penalty corners (UNH 8, HC 4).

Holy Cross will have an opportunity to get back to the .500 mark on Wednesday, September 21 when it hosts Fairfield University at 4:00 p.m.
