Boston College Shuts Down Holy Cross Field Hockey, 7-2

Boston, Mass. - Chelsey Feole scored a hat trick carrying No. 9 Boston College to a 7-2 victory over Holy Cross Sunday afternoon. The Crusaders fall to 1-1 while Boston College improves to 3-1.

Feole opened the scoring for the Eagles, taking a shot from Caitlin Young inside the circle and scoring. Boston College struck again just five minutes later with an unassisted goal scored by Jenney Raftery. The Eagles' took advantage of a corner on Holy Cross as Brenna Leahy passed to Emily Kozniuk whose stick stop set up Feole's second goal of the game.

With 16:43 left in the first half, BC held a 3-0 advantage over the Crusaders. With just five minutes left in the first half, Raftery crossed the ball to teammate Caitlyn Buckanavage who's redirected shot slipped past Holy Cross goalkeeper junior Erin Singleton, making the score 4-0.

Early in the second half, Holy Cross senior Sara O'Coin turned her possession of the ball on a corner to teammate senior Eli Skovron, scoring the Crusaders' first goal of the game, making the score 4-1. The Eagles' Janna Anctil retaliated 10 minutes later, scoring an unassisted goal off junior Katie Quaglia's rebound in front of the Crusader net, making the score 6-1.

Feole's hard shot with less than five minutes left in game earned her an unassisted goal and her third of the day, giving the Eagles a 7-1 lead over Holy Cross.

The Crusaders' refused to give up as freshman Alanna Sikorski got passed BC's keeper Kristine Stigas for a goal from O'Coin, recording her second assist of the game.

Junior Erin Singleton made seven saves while junior Kelly Casey stopped eight for Holy Cross. BC's Julia Berkowitz had three stops while Stigas made one save.

The Crusaders will visit Providence Wednesday, September 5 at 7:00 pm.
