WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross field hockey team has announced that junior Michelle McNeil (Canton, Mass.) will captain the 2014 squad, while senior Colby Lohrey (West Simsbury, Conn.) will serve as vice-captain.
McNeil, who was named to the 2013 Academic All-Patriot League team, started in all 17 games at midfield for the Crusaders last year and tallied a career-best three goals. In 2012, she earned second team All-Patriot League laurels, as she played in all 17 games and recorded two goals and one assist. McNeil is a two-time member of both the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Academic Squad. She is also a member of the Holy Cross Leadership Academy.
Lohrey has seen action in 32 games over the course of her career with 29 starts at midfield and defense. She tallied her first two career points during the 2013 campaign with a pair of assists versus Cornell and Lehigh.
The Crusaders begin their 2014 regular season on Friday, Aug. 29 with a 12:00 p.m. contest versus La Salle in Lowell, Mass. Holy Cross opens up at home on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 7:05 p.m. versus Quinnipiac at the Hart Turf Field.
