Field Hockey Announces 2014 Schedule
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross Director of Athletics Nathan Pine and field hockey head coach Zowie Tucker have announced the schedule for the upcoming 2014 regular season. The Crusaders will play a total of 19 contests with 10 home games being played at the Hart Turf Field and nine games on the road. The team will play 13 non-conference contests and six games against Patriot League competition.
Holy Cross will open the season with four games away from Worcester when the team takes on La Salle (Aug. 29), Longwood (Aug. 30) and UMass Lowell (Sept. 5) in Lowell, Mass. before travelling to Harvard (Sept. 7). The team then begins a three-game home stand against Quinnipiac (Sept. 10), Georgetown (Sept. 13) and Sacred Heart (Sept. 14). The Crusaders will play their first Patriot League contest at Colgate on Sept. 20 before travelling to Cornell (Sept. 21).
After hosting Siena (Sept. 24) and visiting Lehigh in a Patriot League contest (Sept. 27), the Crusaders host another three-game home stand against Bryant (Oct. 2) and two Patriot League opponents in Lafayette (Oct. 4) and Bucknell (Oct. 11). Holy Cross then travels to Dartmouth (Oct. 13) and Patriot League foe Boston University (Oct. 17). The team concludes its season with three home games against Brown (Oct. 22), Vermont (Oct. 26) and defending Patriot League champion and NCAA Tournament participant American to wrap up the regular season on Nov. 1.
The Patriot League Tournament is scheduled for Nov. 7-8 and will be held at the campus of the regular season champion. The top four teams in the final regular season standings will participate in the conference tournament.
Last season, Holy Cross finished with a 5-12 overall record and a 1-5 mark in the Patriot League. Sixteen players will return for the 2014 campaign.
