McNeil Selected To Academic All-Patriot League Team

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross field hockey sophomore Michelle McNeil (Canton, Mass.) has been selected to the Academic All-Patriot League team, as voted on by the conference's sports information directors. To be eligible for the Academic All-Patriot League team, a student-athlete must possess at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. This is the first time McNeil has earned this accolade.

McNeil, who holds a 3.48 GPA, started in all 17 games this season for the Crusaders. She registered a career-best three goals and six points during the 2013 season. She played a key role in helping Holy Cross secure the 4-1 victory over Lehigh, as she tallied a pair of goals. For her career, she has 11 points on five goals and one assist.

Last year, she was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I All-Academic squad, as well as the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. McNeil is also a member of the Holy Cross Leadership Academy. As a freshman, she earned second team All-Patriot League laurels.

Holy Cross finished the year with a 5-12 overall record and a 1-4 mark in the Patriot League. The five wins this season are the most since the team won seven contests in 2008.
