Field Hockey Falls To Bucknell, 7-0

LEWISBURG, Pa – Bucknell's Abby Watson tallied a hat trick to help lead the Bison to a 7-0 victory over Holy Cross in Patriot League Field Hockey action on Saturday afternoon at Graham Field. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 3-9 overall and 0-3 in the conference, while Bucknell improves to 7-5 on the season and remain undefeated at 4-0 in the Patriot League.

The Bison scored the game's first marker in the 13th minute as Rachel Misko gave Bucknell the 1-0 lead. In the 21st minute, the Bison tallied their second goal, which came off the stick of Amy Mucelli, to give them the 2-0 advantage.  Watson then scored her first goal of the contest in the 23rd minute, which put Bucknell ahead 3-0 going into the intermission.

In the second half, it remained all Bucknell as Liz Willis scored her second goal of the season in the 41st minute, off a penalty corner, to increase the margin to 4-0. Watson then scored back-to-back markers in the 48th and 51st minutes to give Bucknell the 6-0 lead. Holy Cross had a scoring chance in the 62nd minute of the game, as sophomore forward Katy Cronin (Franklin, Mass.) ripped a shot on net, but it was pushed aside by Bucknell goalkeeper Shannon Keen. Misko added one final goal in the 69th minute to clinch the 7-0 victory for Bucknell.

Holy Cross junior goalkeeper Kat Matchett (Maple Glen, Pa.) made six saves in the contest, while Crusader freshman goalie Maya Langman (Crozet, Va.) pushed aside four shots in the combined effort. Keen made the one save for the Bison. Bucknell held advantages in shots (23-1) shots on goal (18-1) and penalty corners (10-0).

The Crusaders return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 15, when they will travel to Vermont for a 1:00 p.m. affair.
