Field Hockey Announces Team Awards
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's field hockey team held its annual Christmas Awards Banquet on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Hogan Campus Center. Three awards were distributed to a trio of varsity players.
Junior forward Carly Grimaudo (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) was awarded the Most Valuable Player Award. For the 2012 season Grimaudo played in all 17 games, while starting in nine of them. She led the team with 17 points, recording a career high of seven goals and three assists. She also scored both game-winning goals for the Crusaders this season including the 5-4 overtime clincher against Lehigh. Grimaudo has recently been selected to the 2012 All- Patriot League first team.
Junior defender Jess Dodakian (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was awarded the Most Improved Player Award. Dodakian missed the 2011 season due to injury, but in 2012 she played in 16 games and started in six. She had two shots on goal and recorded one defensive save.
Senior midfielder Emily Allen (Lee, N.H.) was awarded with the Most Dedicated Player Award. During the 2012 season Allen played in fifteen games and started in eight. She recorded a total of two points this season, with one goal. Allen played in 46 games during her collegiate career.
The field hockey team finished the 2012 season at 2-15 overall and 1-4 in the Patriot League.
