Patriot League Press Release

WORCESTER, Mass. –
Holy Cross junior Carly Grimaudo (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and freshman Michelle McNeil (Canton, Mass.) have been selected to the 2012 first and second team All-Patriot League squads respectively, as announced by the league. Both players earn the honors for the first time.

Grimaudo played in 17 games this season, starting in nine of them. She led the team in all major scoring categories with career-highs of seven goals, three assists, and 17 points. She also scored both game-winning markers for the Crusaders this season including the 5-4 overtime clincher against Lehigh. Grimaudo tied for eighth in the Patriot league in total points and tied for 10th in goals scored.

McNeil is coming off a great freshman campaign, as she was one of only four players to start in every contest this season. She scored two goals and tallied one assist for five total points. Her goals and points marks tied her for third-best on the team, while her assist total tied her for second on the squad.

The Crusaders finished the 2012 season with a 2-15 record overall and a 1-4 mark in the league.

The 2012 Patriot League Field Hockey Tournament will be played this weekend, beginning with Friday's semifinal matchups as No. 4 Colgate takes on No. 1 Lafayette at 10:00 a.m. and No. 3 Bucknell plays No. 2 American at 2:30 p.m. The winners will meet for the Patriot League Championship on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
