WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross head field hockey coach Zowie Tucker has announced that six new players will join the Holy Cross program in the fall of 2012. Sarah Bower (Durham, Conn.), Katy Cronin (Franklin, Mass.), Haley Makuch (Granby, Conn.), Michelle McNeil (Canton, Mass.), Kaitlyn Murray (Farmington, Conn.) and Hayley Sarratt (Dublin, Ireland) will all play field hockey for the Crusaders.

"Each individual has the potential to impact our team immediately and we are excited about the belief, commitment and dedication they have demonstrated to the program throughout the recruiting process. They are a very talented and athletic group of young women that will bring a new sense of competitiveness to our program. Their performance in the classroom as well as on the field hockey field has prepared them well for their next step as Division I student-athletes."
Bower is a forward who played four seasons of varsity field hockey for Mercy High School in Middletown, Conn. She captained the team as a senior and holds the school record in points. She was named All-State and All-SCC as a junior and senior. She also plays for the HTC club field hockey team.
Cronin is a forward who played four seasons of varsity field hockey for Franklin High School in Franklin, Mass. She captained the squad as a junior and senior and was a four-time Hockomock League All-Star. She was named the 2011 Hockomock League MVP in 2011 and finished her career with 60 goals scored and 43 assists. She also plays for the IAS Select club team, which was a National Indoor Tournament participant in 2011 and 2012.
Makuch is a midfielder/back who played four seasons of varsity field hockey for Granby Memorial High School in Granby, Conn. her squad won the NCCC conference championship in three consecutive season (2009-2011) and she was named to the All-Conference team as sophomore, junior and senior. She earned regional All-America honors as a senior and was named All-State three seasons in a row (2009-2011). She also plays for the Cape Ann Coalition club team.
McNeil is a midfielder who played four seasons of varsity field hockey for Canton High School in Canton, Mass. She was named the team's Rookie of the Year in 2008 and was chosen as the Team MVP in 2010. Her squad won the south sectional championship three years in a row (2009-2011) as she was named a Massachusetts regional All-Star in 2009. She was named to both the Boston Globe and Patriot Ledger All-Scholastic teams in 2011. She captained both the school's ice hockey and lacrosse teams as a senior.
Murray is a midfielder who played four varsity seasons of field hockey for Farmington High School in Farmington, Conn. She was a two-time team captain (2010-2011) and a two-time team MVP (2010-2011). She was named first team All-Conference as a sophomore, junior and senior. She also earned first team All-State honors as a junior and senior and was named a Harrow Sports/NFHCA All-Region selection for 2011. She finished her high school career with 40 goals and 40 assists. She also plays for the HTC club field hockey team.
Sarratt is a back who played varsity field hockey for St. Andrews College in Dublin, Ireland. She captained the team as a senior. Her team won the 2009 All-Ireland championship and was the Provisional League and Cup winners from 2008-2011. She was also named an Irish trials player. She plays for the Hermes Hockey Club which was a 2009 second division finalist and a 2010 Irish Junior Cup semi-finalist.
