Seven Field Hockey Players Named To 2011 NFHCA Academic Squad

WORCESTER, Mass. Seven members of the Holy Cross field hockey team were selected to the 2011 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad, announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association today. The entire 2011 Holy Cross field hockey team earned the National Academic Team Award as well for achieving a team GPA of over 3.0.

Senior Kirsten Walther (Landenberg, Pa.), junior Emily Allen (Lee, N.H.), sophomores Jess Dodakian (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Lindsay MacPhail (Goffstown, N.H.) along with freshman Nina Batt (Marion, Mass.), Molly Feit (Acton, Mass.) and Kat Matchett (Maple Glen, Pa.) were all named to the academic squad after posting a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2011-2012 academic year. Walther earns the award for the fourth consecutive year. The team picks up the National Academic Team Award for the fifth consecutive year.

A total of 65 NCAA Division I field hockey programs boasted a team GPA of over 3.0 during the 2011 field hockey season. Patriot League opponent American posted the highest GPA of all competitors, as the squad combined for a 3.55 GPA.
