WORCESTER, Mass. – Ten members of the Holy Cross field hockey team have been selected to the 2011 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the league office, including senior Kirsten Walther (Landenberg, Pa.) who topped the team with a perfect 4.00 GPA during the fall semester and picks up the honor for the fourth-consecutive year.
The other nine members of the team named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll consist of seniors Sofia Spanos (Laconia, N.H.) and captains Jamie Caniglia (Wayne, Pa.) and Rachael Miers (Langhorne, Pa.), juniors Emily Allen (Lee, N.H.), and Kelly Sotsky (Wayne, N.J.), sophomores Jess Dodakian (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Lindsay MacPhail (Goffstown, N.H.) and freshmen Nina Batt (Marion, Mass.) and Molly Feit (Acton, Mass.).
A total of 65 student-athletes from field hockey teams around the league were named to the Academic Honor Roll. Bucknell and American led all schools with 14 selections. To be eligible, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the fall semester.
