WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman Mackenzie Peet (Rehoboth Beach, Del.) has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the first time in her career after putting in three solid performances on the turf last week. Peet was the team's offensive leader, scoring three goals over three games, including the game-winner against Siena on Sept. 7.
Peet started her string of scores against Siena, scoring in the overtime period for her first career goal. That goal also broke her team's 20-game losing streak. She followed with one goal against Big East-opponent Georgetown, scoring within the last 10 minutes of action. Her final goal came on a penalty corner set-up against Sacred Heart where she rifled the first shot into the back of the cage.
On the week, Peet scored three goals for six points, including one game-winner, and tied the team-high with a total of 11 shots taken. Peet has also started all six contests for the Crusaders in the midfield so far this season.
Holy Cross will have a few days to practice and prepare for their next contest against 12th-ranked New Hampshire on Friday, Sept. 16. The game will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Field in Durham, N.H.
