Alanna Sikorski Named Patriot League Offensive Player Of The Week
WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross junior midfielder Alanna Sikorski (Glen Gardner, N.J.) has been selected as the Patriot League's field hockey Offensive Player of the Week after recording three goals in a key league match-up against Colgate Saturday, Oct. 17. Her hat trick helped lead her team to a 4-2 victory and was the first of her career.
Sikorski collects a handful of career firsts as she wins the league award for the first time after playing the forward position in Saturday's game for the first time as well. The last time a Crusader player registered a hat trick was the 2006 season when Sara O'Coin tallied three goals in a 5-1 win over Yale.
So far this season Sikorski has registered five goals, second most on the team. Her five goals are a career-high in a single-season and her 11 points are just one point shy of tying her career-high of 12 points, which she tallied last season.
The Crusaders, who are tied for second in the Patriot League, will host a crucial league game on Saturday, Oct. 24 when they take on Lehigh, who is currently tied for third. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m. at the Hart Turf Field in Worcester, Mass.
