Worcester, Mass. - The College of the Holy Cross has named Brian Wilson the associate head coach of the women's basketball team, as announced by Athletic Director Richard M. Regan Jr. and head coach Bill Gibbons. Wilson is only the second assistant in Gibbons tenure to earn this title.
Wilson enters his fifth season as a member of the Holy Cross coaching staff, serving as the team's recruiting coordinator, works with both guards and posts, organizes schedules, and assists with game and practice preparations.
"Coach Wilson has been an intrical part of our success during the five years he's been with us. He has proven to be a tremendous recruiter, an excellent basketball coach, and a first-class gentleman in every way," said Gibbons.
Since coming to Holy Cross in 2003, his most recent achievements include his 2007 recruiting class was named to the Blue Star Basketball Report Honorable Mention and his 2006 recruiting class included the 2007 Patriot League Rookie of the Year, two Patriot League All-Rookie Team Selections and All-Patriot Second Team selection.
As an assistant coach, Wilson has helped lead the team to three Patriot League Championship games, with the Crusaders advancing to 2005 and 2007 NCAA tournament as Patriot League Champions.
"He has earned this promotion and we are excited for him and look for continued success for our program in the future," said Gibbons.
The Holy Cross women's basketball team hosts Buffalo on Tuesday, November 27, scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. The first 300 fans to arrive at the game will receive a women's basketball 2007-2008 schedule magnet.
