Worcester, Mass. - Seven players on the women's basketball team were named to the 2005 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by league officials today. Holy Cross senior Caitlin Agostinacchio (Bellmore, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) and sophomore Brittany Keil (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) were among just four women's basketball players throughout the League to earn 4.0 grade point averages during the Spring semester.
Also highlighting this year's honor roll is senior Lisa Andrews (Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle) who was named the Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Andrews posted a 3.78 GPA and was both a First Team All-League member and the Patriot League Tournament Most Valuable Player.
In addition to Agostinacchio, Keil and Andrews, other Crusaders named to the honor roll include: junior guard Jessica Conte (New Canaan, Conn./Scarsdale (N.Y.)), sophomore center Kaitlin Foley (Albany, N.Y./Bethlehem Central), senior guard/forward Maggie Fontana (Barrington, Ill./Fremd) and junior guard Sarah Placek (Alexandria, Va./Hayfield Secondary).
Overall, a total of 44 student-athletes were selected to the women's basketball conference honor roll for the 2005 academic year.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the League's six winter or 10 spring championship sports.
