WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior guard Laura Aloisi (Nashua, N.H.), a member of the Holy Cross women's basketball team, has been named the Baden Patriot League Player of the Week, for competition from January 7-13. Aloisi led the Crusaders in their 77-70 overtime victory against Lafayette with a new career-high 22 points.
In Saturday's league play opener for the Crusaders, Aloisi led Holy Cross in scoring in both the first half (eight) and second half (10) points while chipping in four in overtime. Aloisi hit a layup with 40 seconds remaining in the game, pushing the Patriot League action into overtime. She shot 47.1% (8-17) from field goal range and 44.0% (4-9) from outside the arc. In addition to her 22 points, Aloisi also recorded a career-high 43 minutes played and chipped in three rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
On the season, Aloisi is now averaging 10.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.4 steals per game. Over the course of her career, Aloisi has totaled 555 points, 372 assists, 265 rebounds and 179 steals. Aloisi is currently ranked ninth all-time at Holy Cross in career assists.
Holy Cross (8-8 overall, 1-0 Patriot League), returns to action on Wednesday January 16, when it travels to Army for a game scheduled at 7:00 p.m.
