Three Women's Basketball Players Garner All-League Honors

WORCESTER, Mass. Sophomore guard Alex Smith (Delran, N.J.) has been named to the 2011-2012 first team All-Patriot League women's basketball squad, as voted by the conference's head coaches. Smith earns the first team honor for the first time in her career after being voted to the All-Rookie squad as a freshman. Junior forward Amy Lepley (Norfolk, Mass.) was named to the second team and to the second annual Academic All-Patriot League team. Freshman Emily Parker (Johnston, Iowa) rounds out the Crusaders' awards as she was named to the All-Rookie team.

Smith has averaged 12.6 points and 5.7 assists per game this season, leading the league and team in assists. Her 165 assists on the season rank in a tie for seventh in Holy Cross single-season records while she ranks 19th nationally in assists per game. She ranks second on the team in scoring and fifth in the Patriot League. Her three-point shooting is also a team best, as she's hit 75 three-pointers this season, leading the league with an average of 2.7 three-pointers made per game. In her career she has scored 683 points, brought down 202 rebounds and dished out 261 assists.

Lepley leads the team in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 13.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. She is the first Crusader to lead the team in both categories since Amy O'Brien in 1990-1991. Lepley is also the team's best shooter, sinking 49.8 percent of her shots, ranking third in the league. She has led the team in scoring in 12 games this season and leads the squad with 21 double-digit scoring outings. She was named to the second team for the first time in her career as she has scored 890 points, recorded 477 rebounds and dished out 179 assists in her three-years of playing.

Lepley was also selected to the second annual five-person Academic All-Patriot League team, as voted on by league sports information directors. To be eligible for the Academic All-Patriot League team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Lepley boasts a team-high 3.30 GPA and is majoring in mathematics.

Parker, who leads the team in blocked shots, recording 35 on the season, was named to the All-Rookie squad, joining American's Jen Dumiak, Lafayette's Emily Homan, Colgate's Missy Repoli and Army's Olivia Schretzman. Parker also ranks third on the team in scoring (10.4 ppg) and second in rebounding (5.8 rpg).
